The actress Jessie was taken into custody on August 8 at Universal Studios in California, as previously confirmed to PEOPLE by a representative of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

According to the spokesperson, Jackson was taken into custody by on-site security before police arrived at the theme park. After watching surveillance footage, deputies looking into the incident claimed to have seen Jackson pushing the victim.

The sheriff's office stated that neither weapons nor recognizable injuries were present. After being brought to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station, Jackson was released a few hours later.

Later, according to TMZ, Jackson's charges were dropped by the prosecution because they deemed there was insufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.

PEOPLE's request for information has not received a response from the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Jackson portrayed Zuri Ross in the Jessie and Bunk'd spinoff series in the past. She debuted on Dancing With the Stars in 2020 after releasing her book Reach for the Skai: How to Inspire, Empower, and Clapback in 2019.

Her upcoming horror film, The Man in the White Van, which she promoted at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, was the subject of a recent Instagram post. The film is scheduled for release on October 11.

After being booked at LASD's West Hollywood station, Jackson was freed a few hours later.
