Olympic athletes Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will co-host coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on NBC on Sunday.
Since the 2014 Sochi Games, Lipinski has collaborated with NBC Sports. She won the gold medal in individual figure skating at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
Weir participated in figure skating competitions in both the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the 2006 Torino Olympics. According to NBC Sports, he took home six medals from the U.S. Championships and a bronze from the 2008 World Championships. Lipinski, Weir, and Gannon made their Olympic debuts together in Sochi in 2014.
We finally have the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and we look at who will call the plays for the American audience. NBC, which aired the show, was granted the exclusive right to the highly awaited closing ceremony. Mike Tirico, a TV regular, is back as one of the hosts on the channel's coverage alongside Jimmy Fallon, the late-night host.
Sportscaster Terry Gannon, former Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski, and former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir—all of whom served as hosts during the Tokyo and Beijing Games—will be on their team for the ceremony.
Johnny Weir: who is he?
A two-time Olympian (2006 and 2010) and champion of the United States men's figure skating competition, Weir retired in 2013 to become an NBC sports commentator. He worked with Tara Lipinski as a figure skating analyst during the Olympics in Sochi.
Tara Lipinski is who?
Former figure skating champion Tara Lipinski took home the gold medal from the Nagano, Japan, 1998 Winter Olympics. She retired from competitive sports and began commentating, just like Johnny Weir.
