Rachael Lillis is well-known to us all thanks to her numerous amazing roles. Her wonderful voice, amazing comedic timing, and acting prowess filled our Saturday mornings and the hours before and after school. I had the good fortune to become friends with Rachael.
She was always so kind and compassionate, right up until the very end. Not only was she very intelligent, but she also had a great sense of humor and had an amazing memory for real or animated moments. She was a hard worker and a great carer.
Now that her light is gone from this very dark void, I'm not sure how it will be filled. She died when the Perseid meteor shower was at its strongest. Rachael was a shooting star, just like those.
Although Laurie was unable to be at Rachael's side when she passed away, she reassured fans that RL died "without pain." Laurie announced the news on the GoFundMe established for her sister's care.
Veronica Taylor, who starred alongside Rachael in the popular cartoon "Pokémon" and is best known for voiceing Ash Ketchum, paid tribute to the late star on Instagram on Monday.
Veronica wrote a heartfelt letter to her followers, explaining how Rachael's love and support got her through her fight with cancer.
She went on... "I had the good fortune to be friends with Rachael. She was always so kind and compassionate, right up until the very end."
"Her numerous animated roles will always be cherished memories, but her most beloved roles were as Pokemon's Misty and Jessie."
Beginning her career in voice acting in the 1990s, Lillis went on to appear in hundreds of TV episodes, anime films, video games, and other media until the late 2010s.
In the 1998 anime adaptation of the "Pokémon" series, she provided the voice of Misty, the gym leader who specializes in aquatic animals. In the early "Pokémon" universe, Misty rose to prominence alongside Ash, his Pikachu, and their companion Brock. Along with her partner James and their talking Meowth, Lillis also provided the voice of Jessie, one half of the evil Team Rocket.
"She had unlimited kindness and compassion, even until the very end," Taylor stated. In addition to being incredibly intelligent, kind, and funny, she also had an amazing memory. She was a hard worker and a great carer. Now that her light is gone from this very dark void, I'm not sure how it will be filled. Similar to the Perseid meteor shower, Rachael was an amazing marvel and something very unique. Too soon, she was gone and burned brightly. She will always be a part of our memories.
Lillis voiced characters in a number of animated series in addition to "Pokémon," including "Your Lie in April," "Hunter x Hunter," "Winx Club," and many more.
