Tyreek Hill: Tyreek Hill is "still trying" to come to terms with his police pregame detention.

Florida's Miami Gardens -- Tyreek Hill, an All-Pro wide receiver, was among the Dolphins players who were taken into custody by Miami-Dade Police Department officers prior to Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hill claimed that approximately three hours prior to the start of the game, he was stopped for allegedly speeding while traveling to Hard Rock Stadium. A "verbal altercation" led to his eventual placement in handcuffs, sources told Mr. Jeff Darlington. Sources told Darlington that Hill received a citation for careless driving. After a few minutes, he was freed, but not before nearby fans recorded the incident on camera, which quickly went viral on social media. Hill stated that he was unsure of the reason behind the situation's escalation.

"At the moment, I'm still attempting to piece everything together... "I'm still not sure what happened," he remarked following the match. However, I would like to use this opportunity to ask, 'What if Tyreek Hill wasn't me?' Worst-case situation, you understand? Everyone has bad apples in every situation, but I want to be able to use this platform to find a way to turn this around so that Miami-Dade and I can both benefit and the community as a whole.

It's challenging. I don't want to talk about race, but when you do, sometimes things get a little murky. But what if Tyreek Hill wasn't me? What those guys would have done, Lord knows. I wanted to confirm that I was following my uncle's advice, which is to place your hands on the steering wheel and simply listen in such circumstances.

Hill claimed he was not disrespectful to the officers and had not used foul language, adding that he had "no idea" why he was handcuffed.
When Hill arrived in the locker room prior to kickoff, Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead said he was "pretty upset, but ready to play".

Against the Jaguars, Hill had a game-high 130 receiving yards, which included his longest touchdown of the season, an 80-yarder. Hill put his hands behind his back to celebrate the play after it was made, and teammate Jaylen Waddle "detained" him.
Videos from the incident show Hill handcuffed and lying on the ground with four officers surrounding him at one point.

Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith, two Dolphins teammates, intervened to support Hill and defuse the situation. As a result, Campbell's. The NFL has been in communication with the Dolphins, according to NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, but he would not elaborate.

"Especially for some of the guys involved -- Calais Campbell and Jonnu, they were all pretty rattled," McDaniel said. "I believe that you attempt to equip a team to deal with uncertainty. You are most definitely not predicting precise circumstances. Adversity encompasses many different things, but they all have one thing in common: no matter what kind of adversity one faces in life, there is always hope for improvement. That's not something you're necessarily ready for, but neither were our needy teammates. Thus, we just try our hardest."

The Dolphins scored 13 points in a row in the second half to defeat the Jaguars 20–17.
