Following an accident just after the Fourth of July, seven-year-old Maverick Knoll tragically died, leaving the town in mourning. Maverick was a boy who was recognized for his kind heart and lively energy. His untimely passing has left a profound hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
Maverick was a bright, vivacious youngster who was born and raised in Goldsboro. His excitement filled every space he walked into. Everyone was impacted by Maverick's contagious enthusiasm for life, whether he was assisting his mother in the garden, running barefoot across the backyard, or chasing fireflies. We shall never forget his laughter, inquisitive curiosity, and wide-eyed awe for the world.
Brianna Knoll devoted her life to raising a boy as charming and lively as herself, and Maverick was her cherished son. At Mary Lee Farms, Brianna, who was well-known for her quick wit and large heart, proudly referred to herself as a “Tiddy Tuggin’ State Champion” in a lighthearted reference to her years of dedication and triumph in regional dairy competitions. She had a close relationship with Maverick. They were mischievous partners, adventurers, and closest friends.
Despite his short life, Maverick left an incalculable impact. Kind, giving, and always willing to help or share a grin, he was a friend to many. His teachers praised his vivid imagination and promising future. He was the type of kid who, if he felt it would make someone happy, would give up his favorite toy.
