Nicholas Bourgeois Accident: Connie, a grieving mother, recalls her son's death in a collision close to Grand-Barachois, New Brunswick, in 2020.

A single-vehicle accident near Grand-Barachois, New Brunswick, on a calm Saturday night in September 2020 claimed the life of 24-year-old Nicholas Bourgeois. Shortly after 9 p.m., a collision happened on Route 15 close to the Cormier Village exit. Nicholas lost control of the car, which swerved off the road and came to rest in a nearby body of water, while he was traveling west, according to the RCMP. He was declared deceased at the spot and was the only person inside the vehicle.

Authorities believe that speed played a role in the fatal crash, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Nicholas's death has caused a profound and agonizing hole in the lives of his friends, family, and community. Connie Bourgeois, his mother, posted a heartbreaking tribute six months after his death, capturing the sorrow of a parent adjusting to life without their child. She stated, "Losing a kid is the worst nightmare for a parent." "We are still in shock that you are no longer here."

In addition to being a son, Nicholas was also a brother, godfather, nephew, cousin, friend, and grandson. He made everyone around him happy and funny, and he frequently filled the house with laughter and vitality. Connie cherishes the small things, like his bear hugs, his constant smile, and his tardiness in showing up for family dinners with a Tim Hortons dark roast double-double in hand.

"Without you, our lives would never be the same," she wrote. "The joker in the house was you. Without you, the house feels so empty. She talked of the long-lasting hurt of his absence during family get-togethers, where the quiet speaks loudly. Nevertheless, Connie finds comfort in the knowledge that Nicholas, her guardian angel, is still alive and continues to lead them from beyond.

"I cherish my day for you every morning when I get up," she remarked. "I am aware that you are assisting us in getting through the day."

In this period of unfathomable loss, the Bourgeois family—his brothers, Luc and Benjamin, and parents, Connie and Serge—rely on one another, finding solace in recollections and little clues they think Nicholas is sending from above. They continue to honor his life in every way they can and treasure every moment they shared.

Connie wrote, "On t'aime beaucoup Nicholas et tu nous manques énormément." "Please keep sending us signs. We like having them and are thankful for them.
Even though Nicholas Bourgeois passed away far too soon, his love endures in the hearts of all who knew him. In their darkest moments, his memory continues to be a beacon of hope. Nicholas received his degree.
