Because our good friend Dylan loved her so much, we immediately knew she was unique. His eyes glowed as he talked about her, and a few weeks ago, he told us something that made us all very happy: he had purchased a ring. On their next trip, he intended to pop the question to Whittney. We were ecstatic for him and eagerly awaited hearing the good news and seeing their engagement pictures, which were beaming and full of hope for a future together.

Instead, we got the most awful text message imaginable. A catastrophe nobody could have predicted. Just before Dylan got the opportunity to propose to her, Whittney was snatched from him and from this planet. The sadness is too much to handle. For Dylan, Whittney's family, and everyone who loved her, our hearts are broken. Such a loss, particularly the death of someone so full of life, love, and potential, could never be eased by words. Losing a child is the greatest sadness a parent can experience. Furthermore, we are unable to really understand Dylan's burden—the hopes dashed, the future that vanished in an instant.

However, realize that you are not alone in the middle of this heartache. Here we are. Tomorrow, the following week, and for however long you require, we shall be available. We shall bear Whittney's memories with us as we travel this path beside you. Whittney, even though your time here was far too brief, Dylan and many others will always remember the love and joy you brought into their lives. He was a lovely soul who was taken far too soon, but you will always be a part of his narrative and all of our tales.
