Obituary of John Hawkins, 66-year-old Victim in a Tragic Crash in Craven County

 John Lincoln Hawkins, 66, passed away in an automobile accident shortly after midnight on Monday, July 28, 2025, leaving the Cove City community and the neighboring communities in mourning.

John was traveling east on Old US 70 close to Sanders Lane when his car swerved off the road, collided with a ditch, and flipped, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Investigators have concluded that speed played a role in the collision, and he was not wearing a seatbelt. At the scene, he was declared dead.
