Andrew Coates Trenton, N.J. Obituary, Cause of Death: A chaotic incident on the evening of August 30, 2025, claimed the life of a 41-year-old man, while a Friday night shooting injured others
City and county law enforcement are looking into a shooting that left one man dead and multiple others injured, according to Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson and Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey.

According to officials, Trenton police were patrolling the area of North Olden and Ohio Avenues when they responded to a Shot Spotter activation at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Friday night.
The shooting victim lost control of his vehicle and collided with another vehicle as authorities were approaching the scene in their patrol car.
After being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, the driver, Trenton resident Andrew Coates, 41, was declared dead a few hours later.
After Coates lost control of his vehicle, a civilian was also hit and hurt. For medical attention, the man and two officers were also brought to the hospital.
Detectives were informed while at the hospital that a second gunshot victim had been checked in with a leg wound and was in stable condition.
Along with a house on Indiana Avenue, two vacant cars were hit by gunfire. There were no injuries in the house.
