Annunciation Church and Catholic School Shooting in Minneapolis: Suspect Dead, No Threat Continues
According to several sources, a mass shooting at Minneapolis's Annunciation Church has killed two individuals and injured at least twenty more.
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a man who was allegedly wearing dark clothing and carrying a rifle started shooting inside the church, which also houses a Catholic school for grades K–8.
Emergency services moved quickly to help with triage and transport, deploying fire department personnel and implementing Multiple Victim Response protocols.
Several of the victims were reportedly in critical condition when they were transported to local hospitals. As authorities continue to secure the scene, the church, which is located at 509 W 54th Street, has been evacuated, and the surrounding area is still sealed off.
In addition to the shooting, bomb squads are conducting additional investigation because of unverified reports of a potential explosive device at the scene. After hearing more than 100 rounds of gunfire, residents in the Tangletown neighborhood reported sirens swarming the area.
A significant manhunt is in progress, and the shooter's identity and situation are still unknown. As they search for the individual and maintain public safety, law enforcement officials have asked the public to stay away from the area and report any suspicious activity.
Concerns about rising violence in the neighborhood have been heightened by this tragedy, which occurred just one day after another shooting in the region left one person dead and six injured. Later today, city authorities are anticipated to address public concerns and provide updates at a press conference.
