Both Brandon Gibson's family and the larger community are in shock over his untimely death during the Greyday music event in Auburn, Washington. His mother has made her first public statements since his death, discussing not just her sorrow but also the damaging allegations that have been going around online, especially on TikTok, about her son.
"Cease the gossip," she begged. "There are nasty, untrue stories circulating about my son." She underlined that Brandon was a man of honesty, accountability, and a great affection for others. In contrast to the untrue rumors circulating, she said her son was proud of his achievements, especially his work for the State of Washington and the hard work he put into obtaining and keeping his CDL license.
She clarified that Brandon was cognizant of that privilege. He never wanted to jeopardize the license that underpinned his life and job, so he abstained from drinking during family get-togethers. She adamantly denied the story that has been spread online, saying, "He was not under the influence, and he was not attacking other people."
Brandon's final comments the night before he passed away were ones of love and protection rather than disagreement. During the mayhem that broke out as people raced into the parking lot, witnesses said they heard him pleading with security not to take him away from his loved one, Brandy. In the midst of the chaos and fear, his mother emphasized that he was acting appropriately at that very moment by ensuring the safety of someone he cared about.
"You were not involved, you had no idea what was occurring, yet you inserted yourself in a situation that simply was none of your business," she remarked, addressing people who meddled without understanding the circumstances.
Now that she is grieving for her son, she has stated that she has two goals for the future: to get Brandon justice and to utilize her suffering to push for change. "You may be sure that I will not give up until that day arrives," she pledged. Her strength is fueled by her love for Brandon, her girls, and Brandy. She plans to dedicate her life to making sure that no other family has to go through what hers is going through right now.
Promoting enhanced safety and security protocols at live events—locations Brandon enjoyed attending—is a component of that purpose. By calling for change, she hopes that her son's legacy will continue in safer settings for fans in the future. She feels encouraged in her battle by the $B/G59 fan group, which has 4.3 million members, as well as her extended family.
"You have one chance to do something right in this situation, and that is to come out and take accountability for your actions," she said sharply to those in charge. Although she voiced desire for accountability, she acknowledged that she does not think they have the fortitude or integrity to do so given their actions.
"We are aware of Brandon's legacy," she said in closing. "What are you going to have? What will you say to God on the day of judgment?
