Anamoose, North Dakota's Brent Hager Death Cause and Obituary: We share the death of Brent Hager, who many people love and call Buddha, with heavy hearts and a profound feeling of loss. The community of Anamoose, as well as the larger group of his friends and the "Deadwood clan," have lost a genuinely unique personality since Brent's untimely death.
You knew you were with someone special if you had the privilege of knowing Brent. He was the regular, not just a regular. The type of individual who, just by entering a room, could completely alter its atmosphere. Every room he entered was lighted by his booming presence, impish grin, and undeniable vitality. You felt Brent, not just saw him.
With jokes that could make you laugh, blush, or both, and tattoos that conveyed tales most people would not dare tell aloud, Brent's life was inscribed on his flesh. He was huge, boisterous, devoted, and always willing to provide a hand to anyone in need of a buddy, a good laugh, or a good story. He also had a crazy, unrepentant sense of humor.
Brent knew how to create an impression, and more importantly, how to make others feel seen and included. He did this by sporting his trademark itty bitty booty shorts on St. Patrick's Day, flaunting his most recent tattoo, or sporting his ridiculously proud green mullet. The king of irreverence, the life of the party, and the friend you did not realize you needed until you met him, he was everything.
Although his cause of death has not been made public, there is a noticeable sense of mourning over his untimely loss. For his loved ones, friends, and members of his cherished Deadwood community, Brent's passing means more than simply the absence of a voice; it means the loss of color, laughter, turmoil, and the kind of joy that only he could provide.
It would be an understatement to suggest it will be silent without him. The sound, the laughter, the spark was Brent. He advised us to be courageous, to not take life too seriously, and to always have a nasty joke ready in case the conversation became too silent.
Thank you, Brent "Buddha" Hager, for the light, the jokes, the hugs, the memories, and the chaos. We hope the shorts are even shorter, the tattoos are new, and the cocktails are strong wherever you are.
Peace be with you, Buddha. Without you, things will not be the same, and to be honest, we would not want them to be.
