In addition to being a superb teacher, Dr. Bean-Folkes was a dedicated supporter of equity, literacy, and the conviction that all children should have access to a top-notch education.

Throughout her years of committed service, Dr. Bean-Folkes poured her heart and soul into assisting students, especially those from historically underrepresented groups. She was an ardent supporter of multilingual classrooms and the celebration of African American language because she understood the value of inclusive education.
