"Celebrating the Life of Clarisse Post, A Legacy of Love and Kindness" is the obituary for Clarisse Post.
At the age of 96, our lovely, giving, and creative mother, Clarisse “Clare” Post, departed from this life quietly early on August 30.
Taking care of our mother in her last days was a sacred gift and a privilege. I left work on Tuesday night to go to Buffalo for my stint providing care. I could tell something had changed as soon as I got there. What our hearts had feared was confirmed by a hospice nurse the next morning.
Our sisters, our niece, and Mary, my childhood best friend, were all at our childhood house by Wednesday morning. Along with Mom's loyal caregivers, Barb and Christie, her lifelong teaching pals also paid her a visit. We surrounded her with affection, captured priceless moments, and took pictures while she was still conscious. At 2:53 a.m., Penne discovered that Mom's soft breathing had ceased after two restless nights of tending to her, setting alarms to move her, and administering morphine for comfort.
Clare had a long, complete life that was full of love, kindness, and creativity. She had a strong commitment to her students, friends, and family. Her legacy of wisdom, generosity, and artistic talent will endure in all of us.
Mom is now in eternal rest with our father, Robert, our uncle Maynard, our aunts Joanne, Kathy, and Victoria, as well as her sister Corinne and brother Dean.
Mom, you are loved. Although we shall miss you terribly, we find solace in the knowledge that you are among the people you love and are always keeping watch over us.
