Officers from the South Precinct arrived at an apartment in the 1100 block of Lakeshore Ridge at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers found a male adult victim who looked to have been shot as they entered the apartment. Shortly later, Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel came and pronounced the victim dead.

Demetrice Darnell Beverly, a 39-year-old Birmingham resident, has been confirmed as the victim. From 2003 until 2007, he played football for UA Pine Bluff as a wide receiver.

The male suspect was caught in the apartment complex parking lot. He has been identified as Birmingham native De'Corlion Keshaun Robinson, age 23.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office received case facts from BPD Homicide Detectives on Thursday, and Robinson was charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion equipment and murder without bond. A $15,000 bond was established for both charges. Robinson is being held at the Jefferson County Jail at the moment.
