The person who was shot and killed earlier this month by a Des Moines County sheriff's deputy has been identified by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The deputies were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence northwest of Burlington along Iowa City Road at around 9 p.m. on August 5. Authorities stated that they had information that a man, now known as David Maupin, age 46, was carrying a handgun.
During a verbal altercation with the deputy, Maupin reportedly got recalcitrant and pulled out a gun, according to the Iowa DCI.
