In addition to his loved ones, Evan's death in a horrific accident yesterday left a department and community devastated by the loss of one of their own.

Despite only having worked with Mapleton Fire/Rescue for two years, Evan made a significant contribution. He showed an unrelenting commitment to serve as soon as he joined the agency. Consistency, dependability, and a quiet strength that motivated others characterized his presence. Even though Evan did not have the biggest voice in the room, his deeds always made a bigger impression than his words. Evan was the one that people could always rely on, whether he was responding to late-night calls or offering to assist a fellow fireman in need.

Evan was the epitome of what it means to be a firefighter: humble, trustworthy, and unselfish. His unwavering dedication never wavered, and even in the most trying circumstances, his composed manner offered comfort.
