According to police, a 20-year-old man died in a motorbike accident Sunday night that was thought to be caused in part by excessive speed. Police were called to a motorcycle-SUV collision near 16th Avenue and 10th Street N.W. just before midnight.

According to a police news release, "it is believed that an SUV driven by a lady in her 30s was turning from southbound 10 Street on to eastbound 16 Avenue N.W." "At the same moment, a 20-year-old male riding a motorcycle was heading west on 16 Avenue N.W. and rapidly approaching the intersection."According to the police, the motorcyclist entered the intersection after failing to stop at a red traffic signal.

The rider was flung from the motorcycle after the motorcycle collided with the SUV, according to the police. After being transported to the hospital in a life-threatening state, the biker passed away from his wounds. EMS evaluated the SUV's driver on the spot and determined that he was unharmed.
