Harjinder Singh: Three people were killed in an illegal U-turn collision on Florida's Turnpike by an undocumented trucker who was arrested.

Harjinder Singh, an illegal alien truck driver, was arrested after three people were killed in an illegal U-turn crash on Florida's Turnpike in St. Lucie County, Florida. Friends Community News Group, 4:10 a.m., August 17, 2025 Three people lost their lives in a horrific incident on the Florida Turnpike on August 12.

In an unlawful "official-use-only" area, Harjinder Singh, the driver of a commercial semi-truck, attempted an illegal U-turn.  Since then, Singh, who entered the country illegally, has been placed under an ICE detainer and charged with three counts of vehicular homicide.  Authorities said Singh will be deported following his state charges and any detention, according to a statement issued by Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles on August 16.

The Order of Things... On August 12, Singh crossed in front of a Chrysler Town & Country minivan while attempting an illegal U-turn on the Turnpike close to Fort Pierce. All three people were killed when the minivan and the semi-truck collided. Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant who reportedly crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018, was recognized by state troopers as the driver. Later on, he obtained a California commercial driver's license. On August 16, Executive Director Dave Kerner of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles released a forceful statement about the incident:

"Three people died as a result of [Singh's] carelessness, and many friends and family members will always be grieving for their loss. Harjinder Singh is being held on allegations of immigration breaches and state vehicular homicide. **He will no longer be able to harm and ruin Floridians' and tourists' lives. He will be deported after his state charges are resolved. The Florida Highway Patrol is still dedicated to upholding federal and state laws to make sure that those who pose a threat to others are held accountable.

Singh is being held under an ICE immigration detainer under the federal 287(g) program, which allows FHP troopers to work with federal immigration enforcement, and has been officially charged with three counts of vehicular murder.

Kerner underlined Florida's dedication to public safety and legal accountability by stressing that deportation will occur once Singh completes any sentence imposed by Florida courts. Singh is an unlawful person who was given a license in California, which worries American citizens as well as law officials.

Many people who are watching and commenting on this story are wondering if the federal government can or will verify that no other illegal immigrants are operating commercial tractor-trailers.

In Michigan, unauthorized immigrants are currently prohibited by law from obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in order to operate commercial tractor-trailers.

Applicants for a driver's license, including a CDL, in Michigan must prove their "legal presence" in the United States.

Enacted in 2008, current Michigan law forbids issuing driver's licenses to people based solely on their immigrant status.

The requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) are as follows: In order for candidates to receive a resident CDL, the FMCSA, which establishes federal regulations for CDLs, often demands proof of citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
