We regret to inform you of the demise of Te Arohanui Pohio, 53, who passed away in Christchurch, New Zealand, on the evening of Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Te Arohanui, whose name translates to "the greatest love," was a strong, resilient woman. After a terrible occurrence at a domestic address on Clyde Road in Bryndwr, she died. Her whānau, friends, and community are in mourning following her unexpected and abrupt death.
Te Arohanui had a strong bond with her culture and her heritage and was well-known to those close to her for her empathy, sense of humor, and steadfast love for her family. She lived her life with energy and a deep devotion to those she loved, and she proudly carried her name.
It is crucial to keep in mind the entirety of her life—the stories she told, the fun she shared, and the aroha she freely gave—even though the circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated. As they work through this period of loss, Te Arohanui's whānau requests privacy and respect. Details will be released after plans are finalized, but a service honoring her life will take place in Christchurch.
Te Arohanui, moe mai rā—rest in peace. We shall always carry you in our hearts and remember you with affection.
