Melbourne City laments the loss of beloved member William "Bill" Thornton, who was tragically killed in a car accident.

 The family and friends of longtime Active Member William "Bill" Thornton, who died on Sunday morning north of Melbourne at the age of 33, have our sincerest sympathies.

A beloved community member, Bill was well-known for his kindness, commitment, and the happiness he offered to everyone he came into contact with. In the lives of his loved ones and the larger community, his untimely and terrible death has left an indelible vacuum.

A senseless traffic accident sadly ended Bill's life. He was reportedly hit head-on by a stolen car that was speeding, a terrible incident that rocked Melbourne and brought attention to the risks of careless driving.

Previously employed at Captive Vision Outdoor Pty Ltd, Bill was the Project Manager at Val Morgan Australia and the Communications Manager at Surrey Park Football Netball Club. Everyone who worked with him valued his enthusiasm, inventiveness, and leadership.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in reaction to this tragedy in order to help Madi and Bill's family get through this trying time.
