A 911 call indicating a shooting at a residence on Jones Street was received by Panola County Dispatch at 6:52 a.m. Deputies from UT Health EMS, the Beckville Volunteer Fire Department, Constable Precincts 2 and 3, and the Panola County Sheriff's Office raced to the site. When they got there, family members were frantically performing CPR on Jose, who had been shot. Jose died from his wounds in spite of the first responders' ceaseless attempts.
