Obituary and Death News for Antonio Sykes Jr.; Up-and-Coming Rapper Fbg Fatslime Died in a Shooting at a Cordova Strip Mall
An 18-year-old male was discovered shot dead in a car in a Cordova strip mall parking lot on Friday night, and authorities are looking into the incident.
The victim, Antonio Sykes Jr., better known by his stage moniker Fbg Fatslime, was found outside a tobacco store in the 1900 block of Berryhill Road at approximately 5:40 p.m., according to confirmation from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
Sykes was discovered with a gunshot wound inside a car, according to deputies. At the scene, paramedics from Shelby County Fire declared him dead.
Witnesses saw the young man's body slumped inside the car after hearing three to five gunshots. Officials eventually determined the victim was 18 years old, although several witnesses initially thought he was 23.
Berryhill Road has reopened after a temporary traffic restriction during the inquiry. The incident is not expected to disrupt the football game at nearby Cordova High School, according to authorities.
As fans, friends, and family grieve the untimely death of a budding musician whose life and career were cut short, the case is still being investigated.
