Obituary of Colbi Blanchard Thibodaux, LA: Boys Varsity Football Player at Thibodaux High School Died

Colbi Blanchard, a Thibodaux High School student-athlete and Jessica Blanchard's cherished son, died on the morning of August 30 at 10:13 a.m., leaving the Thibodaux community in deep sorrow. Following a valiant battle that profoundly affected everyone who knew him, Colbi died away quietly, surrounded by his mother and nanny.

Colbi was a teammate, a role model, and a shining example at Thibodaux High School in addition to being a son, brother, and friend. He played for the Boys Varsity Football team and was well-known for his leadership, sportsmanship, and contagious energy in addition to his skill on the field. Colbi was a player who gave his best, motivated others with his tenacity, and forged close relationships with his coaches and teammates that went well beyond the field. We shall really miss having him in the locker room and on the field.

After his death, his mother, Jessica, sent poignant messages to fans, relatives, and friends. She conveyed her sincere appreciation for the love, support, and prayers that surrounded Colbi in his last days. She admitted that although the miracle for which so many longed was not theirs, Colbi's life and legacy were transformed for others by the gift of his organs. Young, robust, and in good health, he has bestowed the greatest gift possible: the opportunity for other families to carry on their own tales.

Although Colbi's loved ones are grieving greatly, Jessica encouraged everyone who knew him to never forget the happiness he brought into their lives. In order to preserve his soul via storytelling and to continue the love and light he stood for, she urged friends, teammates, and community members to share their recollections. She emphasized that Colbi would want everyone to find courage, healing, and even joy in his memory, and that "we will not grieve alone or long."

Special appreciation were given by the Blanchard family to Lafayette General Hospital, whose personnel went above and beyond to provide Colbi with supportive and kind care in his last days. Jessica said the medical staff was kind, empathetic, and helpful, making sure Colbi and all of the guests felt valued and cared for throughout this unfathomable tragedy.

Tributes flowed in from all across Thibodaux as word of his passing spread, from friends and students to fellow athletes and community people who had been moved by Colbi's tenacity and kindness. He inspired friends and younger pupils who looked up to him, and his influence extended well beyond the football field.

Jessica has requested for continued prayers and privacy as the family works through this difficult time, even if preparations for the memorial and other arrangements have not yet been finalized. Additionally, she requested that friends and supporters hold off on making donations until she provides official instructions.

Despite being far too brief, Colbi Blanchard's life was full of inspiration, love, and purpose. In addition to the lives saved by his last act of organ donation, his legacy will endure in the memories he leaves behind of a young man who lived joyfully, loved sincerely, and played with heart.
