 Richard P. Brooks, Jr., Cause of Death, Obituary, Braintree: Richard P. Brooks, Jr.'s family and friends come together with heavy hearts to remember a life filled with commitment, service, and unshakable love. Richard, who was lovingly referred to as Rich, died suddenly on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 52. His legacy is firmly anchored in compassion, family, and community.

Rich was nurtured in Quincy, where he cultivated a strong sense of duty and morality that would influence his entire life. Rich was born in Boston to the late Dorothy J. (LoCascio) and Richard P. Brooks. Rich, a proud 1991 graduate of North Quincy High School, joined the U.S. Marine Corps after feeling compelled to serve his country. His dedication to serve would continue to be a pillar of his personality, directing him through each stage of his life.

After serving in the military, Rich continued his education by attending trade school and college, eventually securing a position as a proficient mason in the Pine Hill Cemetery Cemetery Department of the City of Quincy. His work made a lasting impression on the community he loved, and his skill, dependability, and dedication were well regarded.

Rich was a man who felt that he should give back, especially to the young people of Braintree, where he and his family had lived for the previous twenty-five years. He dedicated his life to coaching young players as a volunteer youth sports coach, teaching them not only the game but also discipline, teamwork, and character. His dedication to hockey and its ideals was further demonstrated by his work as a referee.

Beyond his work and charity work, Rich enjoyed the small things in life. He loved being outside and frequently went fishing, played golf, or just spent time with animals, which he cherished, to find calm in the natural world. His admiration for the beauty of his surroundings was evident in these peaceful moments.

Rich's greatest commitment, however, was to his family. After 27 years of marriage based on love, cooperation, and unfailing support, he was the adored husband of Meredith (Rossi) Brooks. As a parent, Rich took great pride in raising his three children, Noah R. Brooks, Katie M. Brooks, and Ryan P. Brooks, and he enjoyed helping them navigate life's challenges and acknowledging their achievements.

In addition, Brad P. Brooks and his wife, Jessica, of Cohasset, and Kellianne Brooks-Connors of Quincy remember him as a devoted brother. His nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends will always treasure his friendliness, humor, and kindness.

Rich's legacy will endure in the innumerable lives he impacted as he is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery. In addition to leaving a legacy of devotion and service, he also serves as a reminder to all of us to live life to the fullest, give liberally, and treasure the time spent with the people we care about.
