 Shawn Loomis, Cause of Death, Obituary, New Berlin, NY: We regret to inform you of the untimely and unfortunate death of Assistant Chief Shawn Loomis of the New Berlin Fire Department. He passed away after a car accident.


As a volunteer firefighter, Assistant Chief Loomis devoted more than 27 years of his life to serving the people of New Berlin. He demonstrated what it means to lead with integrity, honor, and compassion during his nearly three decades of service. Shawn's dedication never faltered; he was always available to help, whether it was responding to emergency calls, training new firefighters, or assisting his fellow firefighters.


Shawn was more than just a firefighter. He was a buddy, a confidant, a leader, and a teacher. Everyone fortunate enough to work with him was impacted by his unwavering presence, sharp wit, and sincere concern for others. The entire community that he so devotedly served is affected by his loss, not just those within the firehouse.

He was a caring and loyal man to his family. He served as a mentor and a brother in arms to his department. He was, in every way, a hero to the town of New Berlin.


We ask that you remember and pray for his friends, family, and fellow firefighters as we grieve this tremendous loss. Words cannot express how grateful we are for Shawn's life and service.
