Tate Lehnen, Obituary, Cause of Death, Rice, Minnesota

Tate Lehnen, Minnesota's Rice Death Cause and Obituary: Tate William Lehnen, age 23, of Rice, Minnesota, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on the evening of Thursday, August 7, 2025, after an automobile accident in Stearns County. We mourn his departure with heavy hearts.

In the 2000 block of Edgeton Road in Munson Township, approximately four miles south of Richmond, a boater on Horseshoe Lake reported a submerged vehicle near the bridge at around 8:30 p.m., alerting emergency personnel. The caller thought that someone was still in the vehicle.

Cold Spring/Richmond police officers and Stearns County deputies arrived swiftly and joined the individuals who were already trying to help by getting into the river. They managed to pull Tate out of the car together. Tate did not survive the crash, despite their valiant efforts.

Tate's family, friends, and everyone who knew him are deeply saddened by his departure. He was a young man, only 23 years old, with a bright future ahead of him. Tate, who was well-known for his generosity and kindness, will be remembered for the difference he made in the lives of people around him.

The family will provide information in the next several days about memorial services and tributes.

The Lehnen family is receiving the community's sincerest condolences during this extremely trying time. Tate's memory will endure in the hearts of everyone who loved him, even though his life was cut far too soon.

Peace be with you, William Tate
