Two People Arrested in Relation to the Walnut Park West Murder in St. Louis, Missouri Two people have been taken into custody by homicide police in relation to the July 17 shooting death in Walnut Park West.
The 26-year-old man is accused of:
First-degree armed criminal action murder
Unlawful possession of a firearm on two counts
A woman, age 33, has been accused of:
Illicit Weapon Use and Second Degree Drug Trafficking
Jawon Deshawn Cooper, 27, of St. Louis City, Missouri, has been confirmed as the victim.
Officers responded to several ShotSpotter warnings in the 6000 blocks of Emma and Lucille Avenues just before 10 p.m. on July 17. Police received word shortly after that a man involved in the incident had been taken to a hospital after suffering gunshot wounds. Later, the hospital declared Cooper deceased.
A shooting scene was located in the 5400 block of Park Lane, according to investigators. The inquiry into what happened before the incident is still open.
