Tragically, a 13-year-old kid passed away after suffering injuries in a collision in Hodgeman County earlier this week.

William Thompson, 13, of Hanston, died on Friday as a result of injuries he sustained in an accident east of Jetmore on Wednesday afternoon. The collision happened at the intersection of T Road and 231 Road at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

According to the inquiry, a southbound Dodge Dakota and a westbound Kenworth semi-truck collided at the crossing after the semi-truck failed to yield. The semi-truck drove westward until coming to a halt, and the Dodge spun and came to rest facing south.

In the Dodge, William was a passenger. Both their 9-year-old sister and his 16-year-old brother, who was operating a motor vehicle, were hospitalized due to severe injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed.

To help William's siblings get better, the family has created a GoFundMe page.

In order to avoid catastrophic accidents, this tragic tragedy serves as a reminder of the significance of junction safety and giving right-of-way.
