The Mexico Public Safety Department was called to a two-vehicle collision in the 1500 block of West Monroe Street (Missouri Highway 22) at around 10:33 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Authorities said that **Harrison Washington**, a 34-year-old male from Centralia, was driving an eastbound 2006 Ford passenger car when his automobile crossed the centerline and struck a 1999 Freightliner truck towing a trailer. A 72-year-old man from Mexico was operating the Freightliner, which was filled with soybean meal. Washington passed away at the site, according to emergency responders. The Freightliner's driver was unharmed. The highway was slowed down until about 4:00 in the morning.
