Chaz Zoey Williams was renowned for having a strong sense of self and a lively personality. Her genuineness and capacity for fostering unity inspired others. Any room she walked into was lighted by her vitality. Kharis McGee was the epitome of kindness and calm courage. Kharis was a devoted friend and a sensitive listener who made a lasting impression on everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

Quentin Glass was motivated by curiosity and a sense of purpose. A bright future that now endures in the memory of those he touched was indicated by his leadership and commitment to his studies and classmates. The ethos and values of WSSU—resilience, excellence, and service—are reflected in the unique legacies of these students, who were essential members of our Ramily.

There have been waves of grief on the WSSU campus and beyond following the deaths of Chaz, Kharis, and Quentin. The pleasure, friendliness, and inspiration that these people contributed to everyday life have been remembered by students, professors, and staff in a shared grieving.

Following this tragedy, all members of the WSSU family have been given access to support circles, memorial places, and counseling services. We recognize the deep sadness that comes with losing Chaz, Kharis, and Quentin, but we also pay tribute to the significant ways in which they influenced our community. Despite the fact that their time with us was far too brief, Winston-Salem State University still bears their energy.
