Bridge Street is closed after an overnight knife attack in Stafford, which resulted in a fatal stabbing.

Following a major incident overnight, Staffordshire Police have confirmed that Bridge Street in Stafford would be blocked starting at Casa on Saturday morning.

Authorities said the closure was implemented in response to a stabbing that happened late Friday night close to a tavern on Bridge Street. Shortly after midnight, emergency personnel arrived on the site, and one person was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The victim's condition and whether any arrests have been made in relation to the incident have not been disclosed by the police. Officers are asking the public to stay away from the area while investigations are being conducted, and investigators are still on the scene this morning.

In the town center, the closure is anticipated to cause some disturbance, especially in the area surrounding Bridge Street, where police have erected a cordon.

As the inquiry progresses, more information will be made available.
