North Carolina's Drue Eliot Death Cause and Obituary: Following a valiant and inspirational struggle with metastatic Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, Dr. Eliot passed away. The Eliot family and the larger college football community mourn his departure with heartfelt regret and affection. In 2019, while her father, Brian “Coach” Eliot, was the defensive coordinator at the University of Kansas, Drue received her initial diagnosis.
Since then, Drue has handled every obstacle posed by her disease with remarkable fortitude, poise, and resolve. Many people, including colleagues, classmates, players, coaches, and fans across, found encouragement in her path. She embodied the kind of character that inspires lives far beyond her own with her modest bravery and unwavering fortitude in the face of great adversity.
The family moved to North Carolina in late 2024 after Drue's father accepted a position at North Carolina State University (NC State) as defensive coordinator for the 2025 football season. Despite continuous medical procedures and health issues, Drue continued to be a strong support system for her family and a lighthouse for everyone who knew her.
Even though Drue's life was far too brief, she left a lasting impression during her time here as a cherished daughter and family member as well as a representation of love, hope, and tenacity.
In addition to her loving parents, siblings, and extended family, Drue is also survived by a large network of friends, teammates, and supporters who shared her journey.
