Charles Levine Obituary-Death News; Fatal Crash Claims Life of Former Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Levine

Charles Levine, a former Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office officer, tragically died at the age of 56 after a two-vehicle collision on LA 338 near Bonvillian Road in Youngsville early on Friday morning.

The Louisiana State Police reported that Levine was traveling west on LA 338 in a 2012 Ford F-150 when his car crossed the centerline for an unidentified reason. While negotiating a right turn, this led to a head-on collision with a 2019 GMC Sierra traveling east.

Levine's truck caught fire as a result of the incident. Sadly, Levine was declared deceased at the site despite the first responders' prompt action. After suffering severe injuries, the GMC driver was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Both drivers underwent normal toxicological testing as part of the continuing inquiry; the results are still pending.

The town is grieving the death of a devoted public servant, as are Levine's family and former coworkers. In recognition of his dedication and efforts during his law enforcement career, tributes have begun to surface.

The circumstances behind this tragic collision are being looked into by the Louisiana State Police.
