He was born Charles James Kirk in Arlington Heights, Illinois, on October 14, 1993. He went to Wheeling High School and Harper College before quitting to become an activist.
At the age of 18, Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012, taking the conservative advocacy group from a small college endeavor to a well-funded nationwide organization. Later on, he split it up into related organizations like Turning Point Faith and Turning Point Action.
Kirk became well-known in the media as his fame grew. He frequently appeared in conservative media, hosted "The Charlie Kirk Show" on talk radio, and spoke at important political gatherings like the 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and the 2024 Republican National Convention. "Campus Battlefield" (2018), "The MAGA Doctrine" (2020), and "Right Wing Revolution" (2024) are some of his works.

In 2021, Kirk wed Erika Frantzve. His spouse and their two kids survive him.
