After allegedly beating and stabbing his estranged wife to death inside a Shelby Township gas station on Sunday night, a 25-year-old man has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder.
The Meijer gas station on Hall Road close to Hayes Road was attacked on September 21 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Police say the confrontation started while the woman and her ex-husband, Sydney Emmanuel Davis Jr., of Utica, were exchanging custody.
According to the prosecution, 23-year-old Fatme "Stella" Davis was brutally beaten and stabbed by Davis while the couple's child was waiting in her vehicle. Unharmed, the child, a 1-year-old boy called Elliot, is now under the guardianship of his paternal grandmother.
Fatme passed away from her wounds after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Later, Davis was taken into custody in Armada Township. On Wednesday, September 24, he was arraigned at 41A District Court, where he filed a not guilty plea. The judge refused to grant him bail.
Peter J. Lucido, the Macomb County prosecutor, said in a statement that the accusations in this case are "both stunning and terribly distressing." While their toddler waited in the car, a young mother was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband. To guarantee that justice is done, our firm is dedicated to pursuing this case to the greatest extent of the law.
A preliminary exam is set for October 14 at 1 p.m., after a probable cause conference on October 7 at 1 p.m.
GoFundMe: We are requesting assistance to pay for funeral arrangements and the costs associated with burying Stella with the respect she deserves as we start to cope with this unfathomable loss. Beyond these expenses, any additional money will be put straight into a trust for little Elliot, guaranteeing that Stella's legacy of love and commitment will endure into her son's future.
Loved ones remember Fatme Davis, also known as Stella, as a strong and loving mother who devoted her life to her son, Elliot.
According to her family, "she was a strong-willed woman who carried herself with calm resilience through life's many obstacles." She was the first to be there for others, providing love, laughter, and support when needed, even while facing battles that most people were unaware of. Elliot was the center of her universe, and they had an unbreakable link.
Many people in the community, including Stella's family and friends, are grieving the loss of a mother, friend, sister, and daughter who passed away too young.
