At 4 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Donna Loraine Steiner, 86, of Nappanee, IN, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart, IN. Ford and Vivian (Montgomery) Weyeneth welcomed Donna into the world on May 1, 1939, in Deckerville, Michigan. Donna attended Elkhart University and Deckerville High School.
In Deckerville, Michigan, on October 1, 1960, Donna wed Paul "David" Steiner II.After 35 years in Wakarusa, Indiana, and 24 years in Nappanee, they spent the majority of their lives in Northern Indiana. In Wakarusa, Donna spent several years as a technician for Drs. Miller and Abel. She was involved in her beliefs and a member of Nappanee Missionary Church.
God gave Donna the ability to be "present" for other people. She had a great concern for everyone she came into contact with. She enjoyed playing tennis and other sports in her spare time, especially ones that her kids and grandkids participated in. Above all, Donna was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and going to their events. There are eight grandchildren:
Joel (Kate) Steiner, Lauren (Michael) Buschbacher, Luke (Becca) Steiner, Corey Ellis, Garrett Ellis, Wesley (Katie) Steiner, Maggie Steiner, and Neleh Steiner; three children: Alan (Kris) Steiner of Leo, IN; Sherri (James) Ellis of Nappanee; and Mark (Paula) Steiner of Wakarusa; and Donna's husband, Paul David Steiner II of Nappanee, who she married for nearly 65 years.
Agnes and Emmanuel Steiner, Rowen and Norah Steiner, Mary, Josiah, Gideon, and Nathaniel Buschbacher, and a brother, Donald (Jayne) Weyeneth of Sandusky, Michigan. Donna's parents passed away before her. The Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel (Enter Door H) will be open for visits from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and the Worship Center (Enter Door A) will be open for visits from 9:30-10:30 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
On Wednesday, the Worship Center will host a funeral ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. South Union Cemetery will be the site of the funeral, which will be officiated by Pastor Dave Engbrecht. Donations in Donna's honor can be made to Nappanee Missionary Church's Missions department.
