Elizabeth C. Last Cause of Death: Elizabeth C. Last Obituary

We regret to inform you of the demise of Elizabeth (Betty) C. Last, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, who passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 95. She entered eternal rest in peace. Elizabeth, who was born on November 5, 1929, was a magnificent woman whose warmth and generosity affected many people's lives. She was also a treasured friend and mother.

We were often instructed by Mom to "do as I say, not as I do." Be the best if you are going to do anything! She and her best friend Dorothy would travel from Silver Lake to downtown Kenosha on Fridays to go dancing, I learned when she was a teenager.

She played her harmonica at the Congress Club open mic in the 1950s and was well-liked. Dick Derby, the bartender, became a lifelong family friend. He even became my newborn brother Steven's godfather.

She was our dad's real partner. She put in a lot of effort to support her six children, despite the fact that women were rarely employed outside the home at the time. She was a professional mixologist, bus driver, and waiter. She received instruction from Dale Carnegie and Zig Ziglar. She thrived at every job she took on, assumed leadership positions, and started her own companies. Amway, Christmas Around the World, and Toy Shoppers Service. "My six children" was her response when asked what she was most proud of. She was an ardent supporter of Shoreliners Drum & Bugle Corp. and a Girl Scout leader, giving a lot of herself. She was at the Tremper all the time.

She consistently supported Mark and Mike during the Tremper football games.

Betty enjoyed playing cards like royal rummy and pokeno, gardening, and oil painting.

Along with her family and friends, Elizabeth's devoted daughters, Shiela Last-Heg (Larry) and Sherri Last-Tracy (John), and sons, Mark (Dai), Sherman, and Steven (Nancy) Last, as well as her twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, will mourn her strength and compassion. Her mother Bertha Bitter, siblings Shirley, John, and Billie Bitter, grandparents Frank and Clara Bruenning, and husband James H. Last and son Michael J. Last all passed away before her. Her affection for everyone who had the honor of knowing her and her unflinching spirit will live on in her memory.

Sunset Ridge Memorial Park will be the site of a private burial.  We would prefer memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice Alliance in place of flowers.

May her love continue to inspire and guide everyone who knew her, and may her soul rest in peace.
