The Sheriff’s Department of Franklin County is probing a deadly single-vehicle accident that took the life of 17-year-old Ethan M. Heath from Laurel in the early hours of Sunday, September 28, 2025, on State Road 1 near Blooming Grove.
Around 4:30 a.m., deputies along with emergency teams from the Blooming Grove Fire Department were called to the 14000 block of State Road 1. When they arrived, they found Heath, who was declared dead at the scene.
Initial reports suggest that Heath’s vehicle was heading north when, for yet undetermined reasons, it veered off the east edge of the road. The vehicle collided with a culvert and driveway, became airborne, and overturned several times before finally coming to a stop.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, led by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, with support from the Blooming Grove Fire Department, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, the Brookville Police Department, and the Indiana State Excise Police.
