 Accident involving Jan Walker Lee in Athens, Georgia; Cause of Death: We announce with heartbreak and unspeakable grief the untimely and sad death of Jan Walker Lee and her cherished husband, Mitch Lee, of Athens, Georgia. The couple died in a terrible tragedy, leaving their loved ones, the town, and innumerable friends in shock and sadness.

This morning, the call that altered everything arrived—the call that no one ever wants to receive. Far too soon, two amazing people who were incredibly committed to their faith and to each other were taken home. In addition to being a loving, devout couple, Jan and Mitch were a beacon of hope to everyone they came into contact with. A union made in heaven, life, and now eternity, indeed.

Jan had a lovely, graceful soul that was full of kindness, grace, and power. Together, they were a living example of devotion, love, and faith. Mitch was her devoted and loving companion. The numerous lives they impacted with their kindness, generosity, and unshakable faith in God's love will carry on their legacy as a marriage and as people.

The idea that Jan and Mitch have been embraced by their ancestors, such as Aunt Jean and Uncle Junior, who wrapped their arms around them in a celestial reunion that, however lovely, occurred much too soon for those left behind, gives us some solace.

Our entire family is in need of your prayers and sincere sympathy, but especially for their cherished daughter Blair Elizabeth Hogg, who has lost not only her parents but also her cherished aunt and uncle. Our sympathies are with Blair and the rest of the family as they deal with the unthinkable; the weight of this loss is incalculable.

In addition to being a time of great sorrow, this is a call for community: to unite, to love more profoundly, to treasure those closest to us. Two of the most lovely and devoted souls—pillars of strength, kindness, and devotion—have been given to the Lord.
