Louisville, Kentucky's Jason Brown Death Cause and Obituary: Jason Brown, may you rest in peace. A true leader, mentor, and often the greatest pain in my butt, you were the best boss. To be completely honest, I would not have preferred it any other way. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing you is deeply saddened by your loss, not only at work but also in their hearts.
Jason was never merely a "boss" from the start. Driven, unrelenting, passionate, and, let us face it, occasionally frustratingly stubborn, he was a force of nature. He had a way of pushing people over their comfort zones, and somehow, they always came away from it feeling grateful. Because it was never about control or micromanagement with Jason. It had to do with development. He had greater faith in individuals than they did in themselves, and he was not scared to confront them in awkward ways in order to support their ascent.
On other days, his intensity was unbearable, his high expectations seemed unachievable, and you would leave a conversation with the thought, "Jason is really testing me today." You knew he had your back, though, even in those situations. He pushed you because he cared about you, not because he didn't. More than anything else, he wanted the best for you.
Work was only one aspect of Jason's leadership. He created a homey atmosphere in the office. He brought donuts when he knew we had had a tough week, cracked jokes at the most unexpected moments, and always, always made time to check in—in a genuine and personal way. He always reminded us during team meetings that we were a family, not just a group of coworkers.
Jason was a fantastic employer, but he was also a great person. He had unrivaled loyalty and a strong love. It was evident in his pride in his team, in the way he spoke about his family, and in the small things he performed in the background that no one ever asked him to do. Even in the midst of pandemonium, Jason's presence gave you the impression that everything will work out.
I am thinking of his parents in particular tonight. There are no words that can ease the pain of such a loss. Jason was always their boy, regardless of his accomplishments or the number of people he led. I am praying for them, as well as for all of my friends, coworkers, and loved ones who are missing him.
Although you occasionally drove me insane, Jason, you were respected, I learnt from you, and I will always remember you. I appreciate you being who you were. There is nothing that I would have exchanged our time together for.
Go to sleep, boss. You were genuinely unique.
