Obituary of Jennifer Clifford, Chicago Heights, IL

Jennifer proudly graduated from Marian Catholic's Class of 1988, where she first discovered the passion for education and community that would serve as the foundation for her career. She returned to her alma institution with a strong dedication to teaching, service, and the Dominican principles that Marian Catholic stands for after completing her postsecondary education.

Jennifer started out as a Basic Science teacher at Marian Catholic in 2004 and evolved into more than just an educator over time. With her love of learning and her profound concern for every person, she shaped the hearts and minds of innumerable kids as a mentor, counselor, and role model. In addition to imparting knowledge, her classroom served as a source of inspiration and support.

Jennifer's impact went well beyond her position as a teacher. During her tenure as Dean of Women from 2004 to 2022, she led, mentored, and supported Marian Catholic's young women. She was respected in that capacity for her impartiality, empathy, and steadfast dedication to fostering students' intellectual and personal development. She served as an example of decency, accountability, and tenacity, and many found solace in her constant presence.

Jennifer is remembered by her coworkers as a friendly, cooperative, and committed professional. She willingly donated her time and was always ready to listen, offer assistance, or impart knowledge. Because she fostered a sense of community and cooperation within the school, she had a significant influence on the Marian Catholic faculty and staff.

Jennifer was just as committed to her friends and family outside of the classroom. According to those who knew her well, she was considerate, sincere, and incredibly encouraging. She exuded humility, grace, and a quiet strength that motivated everyone around her. She made a lasting effect on everyone she met with her compassion, friendliness, and laughter.

The Marian Catholic community, where Jennifer Clifford's presence has been a blessing for almost 20 years, is also deeply affected by her passing. Her lessons, her ideals, and her memory will be perpetuated by the students she taught, the young women she mentored, and the coworkers she collaborated with.

We honor Jennifer's life and the innumerable ways she improved the lives of others while simultaneously mourning this immense loss. She will always be known as a leader, an educator, and—above all—a kind and devout woman.
