 The guy who was shot and murdered Thursday night close to Altgeld Gardens has been named by authorities as LeBron Stewart, 30, who is referred to as "White Owl" in the neighborhood.


The shooting took place in the 13300 block of South Calumet on September 25, 2025, at approximately 7:03 p.m. A witness reported hearing six or seven gunshots before spotting a man down by the corner, according to Chicago Police, who received a call about the numerous gunshots in the area.



Officers on the scene found Stewart lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his body. Before paramedics arrived, a unit 506-Adam cop started CPR right away. Ambulance 51 took Stewart to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where Dr. Bolaji declared him dead at 7:41 p.m.

Investigators found the victim's cap and cellphone at the site, as well as about five shot casings. According to the Chicago Fire Department, Stewart was taken as a traumatic arrest, Red—signaling that he had suffered serious injuries during the incident.


Detectives from Area 5 are in charge of the investigation, and no suspects are in custody at this time. Information regarding a potential motive has not yet been made public by the police.
