Newsome, Bryan Matthew Accident: Texas Loved a Weatherford Man Who Died in a Fatal I-20 Crash

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Bryan Matthew Newsome, 41, of Weatherford, lost his life in a terrible high-speed collision on eastbound Interstate 20.

The Abilene Police Department reports that Newsome's white 2016 Toyota Camry collided with the back of a white 2018 Freightliner box truck that was being driven by Khua Ling, 56, of Dallas. The box truck was in front of the Camry, and both cars were heading east in the outer lane. According to witnesses, Newsome's car seemed to be moving quickly prior to the collision, propelling the truck a considerable distance ahead.

Although emergency personnel arrived promptly, Newsome was declared dead at the spot after suffering serious injuries. Authorities attested to notifying his next of kin.

According to investigators, speed had a role in the collision. The Abilene Police Traffic Division is still looking into the possibility that distractions, alcohol, or other circumstances contributed to the incident.

The wife and kids that Newsome leaves behind are currently grieving the unexpected and terrible loss. Family and friends recall him as a devoted father, a loving spouse, and a man who prioritized his family.

As the investigation into the deadly incident continues, authorities are asking drivers to be extra careful and aware of their speed, especially on busy roads like I-20.
