Obituary and Cause of Death for Tyra Spaulding: Miss Universe Jamaica Finalist Passes Away Unexpectedly from an Unspecified Illness

The tragic news of Tyra Spaulding's death, a beloved finalist in the 2023 Miss Universe Jamaica competition, has left the country of Jamaica in sadness.

Tyra, who is only 26 years old, was discovered at her residence on Tuesday night. According to authorities, she may have committed herself. Police said she was found with a pink curtain around her neck, hanging from her bed frame. The horrific occurrence is still being investigated.

Tyra was much more than just a contestant, according to the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization, which expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss. In a sad statement, the organization added, "Tyra was more than a contestant; she was a bright, brilliant, and inspiring young woman whose elegance and passion affected everyone she met."

On behalf of National Directors Mark McDermoth and Karl Williams, as well as reigning Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry, they offered their sincere sympathies to Tyra's family, friends, and everyone who loved her. As we commemorate and honor her extraordinary life and legacy, our prayers and thoughts are with them. May she rest in peace forever.

Tyra was loved for her knowledge, kindness, and beauty, and her death has left a huge hole in the Miss Universe Jamaica family as well as in the nation at large. Tyra thrived in her career as an accountant outside of the pageant scene because of her keen intellect and diligent work ethic.

She was more than her career, though; to those closest to her, she was a thoughtful, kind young lady with a contagious grin and a steadfast dedication to encouraging others.

Tyra's commitment to suicide prevention and mental health awareness—causes that were very close to her heart—was what really set her apart. She broke the taboo attached to mental health issues by using her position to talk candidly about mental wellbeing and to inspire others to get assistance. She truly cared about people and went out of her way to make them feel seen, appreciated, and supported, according to her friends and coworkers.

Her passing serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the conflicts that many people fight in private. Tyra's untimely death highlights the need of mental health advocacy and the necessity of ongoing discussions about emotional well-being, despite her apparent success and lively personality.

The Miss Universe Jamaica community is dedicated to honoring Tyra's legacy by carrying on the work she was so passionate about—raising awareness about mental health and offering assistance to those who need it most—as Jamaica mourns the death of such a bright and kind young woman.
