 Patricia Saidu, 21, of Baton Rouge, died late Tuesday night in a terrible incident near Interstate 10.

Around 11 p.m., an SUV entered I-10 from U.S. 51 in the incorrect direction and collided head-on with Saidu's car, according to Louisiana State Police. Both cars caught fire as a result of the collision.

At the scene, Saidu was declared deceased. The SUV's driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident, troopers verified that toxicological samples were taken from both drivers.

In Louisiana, where wrong-way wrecks continue to be a major safety concern, the fiery collision represents yet another tragic event.
