Petri, Jr., John Louis, Westminster, Maryland Car Accient: In Honor of John Louis Petri, Jr., Who Tragically Perishes in a Carroll County Single-Vehicle Accident

 A tragic single-vehicle collision that happened in Carroll County early today morning, September 20, 2025, is being looked into by Maryland State Police.

The dead was identified as Westminster, Maryland resident John Louis Petri, Jr., age 28. Emergency medical services personnel declared him dead at the site.

Troops from the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack arrived to the scene of a single-vehicle collision at around 1:40 a.m. on Maryland Route 97 near Mayberry Road. According to preliminary investigations, a Honda CR-V was heading north on Maryland 97 when it veered off the road for an unidentified reason and overturned, colliding with a house, a telephone pole, and a fence.

At the scene, no other injuries have been recorded.

While authorities investigate the crash, all lanes of Maryland Route 97 are now closed. The road closure is being assisted by Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration personnel.

The investigation is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to get in touch with the Westminster Barrack, according to authorities.
