Revon Melvin Anthony Todd Accident: Maplewood SUV Rolls Off Ramp, Kills 1-Year-Old Infant
Last Saturday evening, an SUV drove off a highway ramp in Maplewood, killing 1-year-old Revon Melvin Anthony Todd of Saint Paul.
The collision happened on the eastbound Highway 36 ramp to southbound Highway 61 at approximately 6:25 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. According to investigators, the driver of a black Chevrolet Tahoe lost control, swerved off the road, and rolled into a ditch while the vehicle was moving quickly. The SUV was partially buried in one to two feet of water before it came to rest upside down.
Baby Revon was declared dead at the site after first responders retrieved him from underneath the car.
Non-life-threatening injuries were sustained by four other people inside the Tahoe, who were sent to Regions Hospital. A 32-year-old man, a 6-year-old kid, and a 5-year-old child were among them, as was the driver, Rachale Francine Peloquin, a 28-year-old from Saint Paul.
Alcohol was cited by troopers as a contributing factor in the collision. Who among the passengers might have been wearing a seat belt is yet unknown.
While workers removed the site and rebuilt the accident, the highway ramp was stopped for many hours. The investigation is still underway, and authorities have not yet made any announcements regarding any arrests or charges.
