Three Arrested After Teen Shot in Homestead Neighborhood, Critically Hurt: Continue Reading

 According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO), three people have been taken into custody in relation to the shooting death of 16-year-old Elijah Quintero, who was taken to the hospital early Friday morning in critical condition.


The shooting happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the vicinity of Southwest 140th Place and Southwest 283rd Street, just north of Biscayne Drive and west of the Florida Turnpike. Quintero was laying on the ground with several gunshot wounds when deputies arrived at the scene of a call regarding someone yelling. He was a "nice child," according to friends, who participated in religion and community service.

Napoleon Bryant, 20, was later taken into custody by detectives from the South District General Investigations Unit and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm in a residential area, tampering with evidence while armed, and attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Tazaria Alize Miller, 22, and Jesus Aguilar, 30, were both accused of accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.


Miami-Dade The cause of the gunshot and if it was a singular incidence are yet unknown, according to Deputy Joseph Peguero.

Concern for their families' safety was voiced by neighbors. Tyrone Payne remarked, "It is unsettling. All I can hope is that he recovers completely.
