Two drivers are charged after Cheryl Elaine Boesel was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-40.

 According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Cheryl Elaine Boesel was killed in a three-vehicle incident on Interstate 40 westbound near NC-42 in Clayton, and two other drivers are being charged with crimes.


Authorities had to stop the route for several hours as they conducted an investigation after the collision near Exit 312 just before 4 p.m. on Thursday.


According to troopers, a red Ford F-150 driven by Scott Faircloth struck Boesel's car from behind as she was slowing down in traffic on I-40 East. Faircloth veered over to the right shoulder after the impact. Shortly after, Miriam Biviano's Jeep Grand Cherokee also collided with the back of Boesel's car.

Boesel passed away from her wounds.


Both Biviano and Faircloth were charged after the collision. Troopers reported that Biviano is charged with failing to reduce speed and driving without a license, while Faircloth faces misdemeanor charges of failure to reduce speed and death by motor vehicle.


The Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
